Cranial Osteopathy Testimonial

A nights sleep at last! An experience of Cranial Osteopathy.

Let me explain how a chance comment from a friend made life in the Sanderson household much more tolerable.
George was four months old and we were very lucky to get two and a half hours sleep at any one time, followed by at least one hour pacing the house, during the day wasn’t much better; he would cry if put down for more than a few seconds and often just spent hours screaming. Feeding was difficult, I couldn’t get him to breast feed and he wouldn’t always take from the bottle. As a mother I felt George was very unhappy, but everyone kept saying “babies are like this, its normal.”

Then a friend, Jill, told me of her experience taking her daughter to a Cranial Osteopath. Ellie had been suffering from colic and the treatment had helped considerably. I wasn’t sure if it could help George, but how much did I have to lose?

My first appointment with Mr. Owen, George’s Osteopath, was not my most pleasant experience. I answered questions about my pregnancy, birth and life with a new baby. He examined George by laying him on a couch and very gently feeling around his pelvis, spine and skull. George screamed throughout this and I found it extremely difficult not to pick him up and comfort him.

Mr. Owen was very understanding to me helped most by agreeing that something may be bothering George and this isn’t just how babies are. He said due to his quick birth my son had experienced trauma at the base of his skull, he had treated this and I may see some improvement in the next few days. He recommended two or three more sessions. I booked another session but planned to cancel if there was no improvement.
That night George was awful as usual and the next day worse than ever, I can honestly say that this was one of the worst times since he was born. Then that night he went to bed around 6.30pm and awoke at 6.00am, getting up just once for a feed. Even better the next morning he lay down awake, without crying for twenty minutes while I had a shower and dressed. What bliss, he had never done this before!

In three weeks and two further sessions, in which George didn’t cry, he was a different child He was a much more relaxed and contented boy who slept through from 6.30pm to 6.30am each night. Friends who didn’t even know about the Osteopathy commented on the change in his personality.

Mum, Dad and baby are happy, awake and enjoying their time together. At nine months George sleeps from 7.00pm to 7.00am. If he does wake in the night he manages to go back to sleep himself.

If anyone is experiencing similar difficulties, I would suggest giving Cranial Osteopathy a go. My husband Roger is converted and no one is more cynical of “those alternative therapies” as him.
